Makenna Weipert spikes a ball against Hood River. This play would be a crucial part in a big league win for Wilsonville.

After a great season last year that saw Wilsonville’s volleyball team make it to the state championship game many were wondering how this years team would replace many key pieces that graduated from last years roster. It is safe to say that this squad has figured out how to replace those players and perhaps be an even more complete team this year.

Wilsonville started off the year playing in multiple tournaments and double headers before getting into league play this week. Thus far Wilsonville has yet to lose a game and what’s more impressive is the ratio of sets won to sets lost. Wilsonville has won an astonishing 22 sets won to just 3 sets lost.

Wilsonville has not lost a game yet and that continued last night when taking on a new NWOC team in Hood River. Wilsonville dominated through out the night winning the first set 25-7 with the help of Makenna Weipert dominating around the net. Wilsonville then struggled during the second set and even saw Hood River take an advantage for a small period of time, how ever Wilsonville battled back and won the second set 25-17.

Wilsonville then finished off the Eagles in the last set by a score of 25-12, a dominating night of Wilsonville volleyball was very exciting as Wilsonville yet again looks to sit atop the NWOC with their rivals from La Salle. Wilsonville and La Salle will face off on Thursday the 15th in La Salle.

That game means a lot to the standing in the conference and will give us an early idea of who could be the top seed in the playoffs.
