With the Wilsonville Invitational Tournament done, the Wildcats boys basketball team is looking forward to starting off their season against the powerhouse West Linn Lions. The Lions have a decorated track record including four state championships… IN A ROW. Though they broke their championship streak last year, they still have an abundance of talent and transfers that always look to put on a show.

Looking back at the WIT tournament held at the high school, the Wildcats did better than most would have expected. They played three games and came out with three wins against strong 5A competition. First, the Wildcats faced off against Dallas to start the tournament, and the season. The Wildcats gave them a 72-25 beatdown that boosted the Cats confidence and led them to a 49-36 win against Pendleton, and a 60-57 win against Mountain View. Pendleton and Mountain view are both teams that have lots of talent and are going to win a lot of games this year. Beating them early in the season will end up helping the Wildcats later in the season when the rankings come into play.

Looking forward to Friday, the Wildcats will make the trip out to West Linn High to try to hand the Lions a loss in the first game of the season. The Wildcats are the underdogs in this matchup but they have definitely shown that they have the capabilities to go on runs and beat good teams. I wouldn’t be to shocked if the cats come out hot and give the Lions trouble. Be there to support your cats as they look to win their first game of the season against the West Linn lions!
