How did people feel about the ice storm?
Over the winter break, as many people may have seen, a major storm broke out covering the streets in a thick layer of ice. Some people enjoyed the ice because it gave them sowing new to do, but not everyone enjoyed it. The ice storm set back many plans for people, but with the struggle to drive, it left students to come up with many creative solutions.
Looking around, many students were sledding, sliding and even ice skating through the streets. Sophia Levesque, a junior, describes her experience with the ice. She explained that “ I went outside with my friend and we would skate down her driveway because of how slippery the ice was.” She announced that she had a great time because, “I got to stay longer at my friends house because my parents didn’t want me driving.”
Although many people enjoyed having fun during the ice storm, not everyone liked it. Makenzie Small, a sophmore, talked about how she didn’t enjoy having the ice. She explained that “the ice storm sucked because it made my family, who was coming home for Christmas, flight get canceled so instead of flying to Oregon they had to drive through the storm for 14 hours.” Even though she didn’t like the ice storm, she still managed to have a little bit of fun. Small explained that “I went outside with my two siblings who came into town before the storm.”
Just because the ice storm affected many plans for many people, didn’t mean they couldn’t make the most out of it. There were many people who went outside to go sledding, ice skating or even play ice hockey. People managed to find creative solutions to pass time during the storm. Not everyone enjoyed the storm, but at least they managed to make the most out of it.
