Emi Bishop finds the open shot in our last match-up againt Sandy.

The Wilsonville Wildcats traveled far north to face off against league opponent Sandy for their second matchup of the season. The last time these two teams faced off, the Wildcats showed no signs of letting up as they ran away with an astronomical victory.
The Wildcats were off and rolling right off the tip as their speed and defensive intensity was just too much for the Pioneers and the Wildcats found themselves pulling away early. In the set offense, the Cats were letting it fly from 3 and weren’t converting often. Coach Justin Duke called a timeout to communicate to the girls to stop settling for 3’s and to attack the Pioneer defense, or lack thereof. The Cats made the adjustment and found themselves up big at half.
Freshman Emilia Bishop provided a great spark off of the bench all night and especially in the second half. She finished out the game with her first double double of her high school career, posting 11 points and 13 rebounds. When asked how she plans to help the Cats going forward as playoffs near, Emi responded by saying “My confidence is getting better and better as the season goes on and my chemistry with my teammates is great. They know where to find me when I’m open to score.” The Cats continued to run away with the massive lead with help from junior Teagan McNamee who added 12 points and a spark defensively. They pushed all the way until the end and pulled away with the easy win. 61-15.
The Cats have a break in their action this week as they have Friday off, but will come back next week to host Putnam on Tuesday and travel to La Salle on Friday for perhaps their biggest game of the season. Be there to support!
