Boys basketball squeezes past LaSalle for a second win
Wildcats are ranked 5th out of all 5A teams.
The Wildcats hosted La Salle on Friday the 16th. If the Wildcats could manage a win, this would prove them the outright league champions. The Wildcats, winning 11 straight, now look to obtain their 12th straight win. In the last matchup between these two teams, the Wildcats squeezed out a 9 point win in a low scoring matchup. Would this game be a defensive showdown like the last?
From tip off until half time the Wildcats and Falcons battled and the Cats went into the locker room with a narrow lead. It was a very emotional second half from both teams. Engagements with the ref left the spectators wondering when the first technical would be thrown out. There was no technicals given, but there was a gasp to be heard from the audience when the 6’9 Tabor Bosco hit the floor after being tripped by a Wilsonville player.
The Wildcats played with fire in the fourth quarter and after sinking their foul shots in the final minute of the game, they found themselves up 9 points. It was a well fought win for the Wildcats, bringing their record to 16-6, ranked 5th in all of 5a basketball. With two tough road games left to determine league, can the Wildcats hold out and achieve their second undefeated season in league in two years? It will be interesting to see the outcomes as the Cats take on the St. Helens Lions and the Broncos of Parkrose to close out the season.
