The WVHS theater crew anticipate the new auditorium
The structural integrity of WVHS has remained intact for nearly 3 decades. In addition to the lasting mementos within the schools foundation, the school plans to debut their newly built auditorium for performing arts at the arrival of the 2023-2024 school year.
As all WVHS students anticipate the newcoming space, several students have shared new components of the auditorium that will likely make their overall performing experience better.
John Fitzgerald, a key vessel of the dramatic arts, as well as a Wilsonville High School teacher of numerous English subjects, is looking forward to the new space. He is most appreciative because “everything is new,” and he thinks that “it’s going to be a great place for student performers.”
Kate Thomas, a sophomore, is looking forward to performing within a larger space. In the midst of previous performances, the auditorium was unable to fill the space needed for costume changes, forcing the crew “to resort to putting people” in “makeshift dressing rooms.” She was informed that the new dressing rooms provide a more reliable space for the cast.
Despite the immense changes implicated into the new space, Thomas doesnt think the dynamic of the cast and crew of plays will distinctly change, however, she thinks that the space will “make people overall much happier,” and satisfied with the portrayal of their performances.
Wyatt Budeau, a junior at WVHS, hypothesized that the auditorium will likely “feel way cleaner and of higher quality.” He also expressed his elation to perform in a setting that “can provide amazing sound, as well as beautiful lighting.”
Budeau thinks the space will also enforce efficiently scheduled rehearsals as well, and given “how nice the space is,” student performers and technicians will take advantage of the artistry and quality of the space.
Student performers can’t wait to display their talents amongst a larger audience, as well as technological strengths in their productions. The new auditorium marks the beginning of many stories to come!
