Senior Anna Jardin throws a pitch in the Semifinals v.s Dallas. Jardin was relied on heavily in the circle for the Wildcats.

After securing a NWOC league championship for the third year in a row, Wilsonville looked to continue this dominance into playoffs.

Wilsonville opened up the first round at home against West Albany. The bats came alive this game scoring 11 runs, six of which being in the first inning with two outs. The Wildcats played a clean defense, only allowing one run. “We attacked the pitches a lot better than we had previously and we cleaned up our defense,” said junior 3rd baseman Grace Wilson. The hot bats coupled with amazing defense led the Wildcats to an 11-1 run rule win in five innings. “Our hitting was really on point that day and we came with a lot of energy and determination.” said senior pitcher Anna Jardin

Nerves rose after the game as Wilsonville watched Putnam and Silverton play online as they would play the winner of this game. Putnam, the team who gave Wilsonville their only two league losses, upset number 5 ranked Silverton via OSAA and would advance to play Wilsonville at home. The Wildcats were nervous as they didn’t play well against Putnam during league however, they wanted revenge. Wilsonville was ranked 4th in 5A via OSAA, and despite being ranked higher, Wilsonville was the underdog. The Wildcats used their rage from previous games to fuel their fire which led them to a 3-1 win and a place in the semi finals. “We bought a lot of energy that we haven’t seen at all this year. The younger girls really stepped up and brought the energy. We knew that we had nothing to lose so we went out and played hard.” said Wilson. “We brought even more energy because we lost to them before, we didn’t want to let it happen again in a game that mattered the most. We were all really focused.” added Jardin

Dallas, the number one seed, beat a league foe of Wilsonville, La Salle, to advance to the semifinals. With the third round set, Wilsonville would face off against Dallas at Dallas High School and Lebanon would travel to Bend to play the number two seed, Bend High School. “Our defense was really good this game but we should have adjusted to the pitches faster.” said Wilson. Wilsonville held Dallas scoreless through five innings before letting two runs score in the last two innings. Wilsonville had a rough day at the plate, only tallying 3 hits and collecting a whopping 16 strikeouts for Kadence Morrison, the pitcher for Dallas. “We knew we were the underdogs. Our energy started off good but it wasn’t as good which defeated us a little bit. We kind of got in our heads and began playing more flat.” added Jardin.

Wilsonville had an amazing season that unfortunately fell just short of the State Championship.
