Last year when Wilsonville and Tualatin squared off in week 3 of the regular season, Tualatin dominated in a 44-7 victory in Wilsonville. This year Wilsonville looks to change the tide, “We have had a successful first two weeks in our season” QB Kallen Gutridge said after a 49-14 victory over Westview. “We have some stuff to work on this week if we want to have a shot against those guys”

After trouncing Thurston in week one 44-15, Wilsonville traveled to Westview and crushed the Wildcats on a rare Thursday night matchup. On the flip side, Tualatin is 1-0 after beating Summit 42-14, the Timberwolves will take on Lincoln (WA).

Tualatin is looking to bounce back this year after losing in the 6A semifinals last year 28-14 to Sheldon. Wilsonville looks to keep a perfect record as they try to avenge a tough loss in the 5A state championship to Summit (35-28)

The most promising element of this Wilsonville team has been the defense, Wilsonville has yet to give up a first-half touchdown on the defensive side of the ball and has only given up 29 points in total through 8 quarters.

Luke Larson, who had an interception that he returned for a touchdown on the first drive of the Thurston game, had nothing but positives to say about the swarming Wilsonville defense. Larson claims, “The defense has been flying around and playing really well, the defensive line has been wreaking havoc and it has been really fun”

Wilsonville looks to keep the fun rolling, but will have its hands full against a very talented and athletic Tualatin team which has seen tremendous success over the last few years. Both teams look destined to make deep playoff runs in their respective qualifications, and this week 3 matchup in Tualatin will be a great test for both of these squads as the season rolls along.
