School is in full swing, and students are still adjusting to the changes implemented regarding their schedules, classes, and policies. Despite the functional changes, an exciting new component to leadership has been added. The ASB student council is debuting as the school’s head planners and coordinators as of this year!
Trenton Bonfiglio and Venecia Gonzalez, the Senior ASB presidents, have been navigating their workload, particularly during the initial stages of assuming their new roles. Their job comes with the stress that goes along with planning assemblies and managing the school’s systems, given that the school had been without an ASB for a few years.
However, amidst the challenges, Trenton and Venecia find the role to be more than worth it and very rewarding. Witnessing improvements at the school, such as the refurbished bleachers, a project the ASB and volunteers were quick to facilitate.
More than merely executing logistics, they see their role as an avenue for representing the students. The ASB has been actively gathering and incorporating feedback from the student body, which they recently shared with the administration during their speeches on the 11th. The impact of all of these efforts is already evident in the surge of school spirit. For the first time in years, the student body is rallying behind their school, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and unity.
Our President’s goals for this academic year reflect this surge in school spirit. They aim to enhance the quality of school assemblies, ensuring that they continue to captivate and engage the students. They also hope to expand student participation by nurturing and diversifying clubs and offering students more avenues to pursue their passions. Ultimately, they hope to foster a stronger sense of community, bringing students from all backgrounds and grade levels closer together.
One of Venecia’s primary objectives this year is to increase school spirit to the point where every student can declare, “I’m proud to be a Wildcat.” This sentiment holds particular significance for the 9th graders and sophomores, as they will be leading the school in a few short years, and their pride in being Wildcats will serve as a unifying force.
In the midst of schedule changes and new policies, the ASB student council has emerged as a beacon of leadership, channeling student feedback, driving improvements, and igniting school spirit. With Trenton and Venecia, this academic year promises to be a remarkable one, filled with spirited assemblies, expanded club participation, and a stronger school community. The Wildcats have never been more united, thanks to the tireless efforts of their ASB presidents and the entire council.
