Students and teachers enjoy the sun while raising money for Doernbecher
The first annual Doernbecher festival charity event took place at Wilsonville High School, and along with it came great success. It was located on the outskirts of the school, close to the baseball and softball fields. There, students and guests were served cheeseburgers and nicely cooked hot dogs.
Guests were provided with many booths and activities, including sports such as kickball and basketball. There were also booths for making bracelets, and dunking your favorite teachers in water! All of this was to raise money for the sick children, combatting their illnesses Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
Groups, like MECHA, the art club, and others formed teams to participate in this event. Mechicanos played kickball on the baseball field against their rivals: the teachers! With great strength and power, the MECHA team defeated the teachers and raised money for Doernbecher.
The event ended at 3 pm, with tons of money donated and ready to go to the hospital, students and teachers were happy with how it ended and are excited for next year, with hope of raising even more money.
