As spring sports are getting busier and busier, the class of 2024, among all sports, is preparing for their final season as a Wildcat.
Avery Devincenzi, a University of Montana commit and thrower for the Wildcats, has many goals for this season. “Last season went well for me and the team. I consecutively PR’d at my meets, and the team had a great season,” said Devincenzi.
“This year, I want to set two new school records before I leave, and as a team, we want to win the state championship,” added Devincenzi.
Kiera Easterly, George Fox University commit and asset for the Wildcats, is aiming big for her final year as a Wildcat. “I was injured last season, so I wasn’t able to achieve the things I wanted to, but I learned how to be a team player in such an independent sport,” said Easterly.
“I want to leave on a good note and finish what I started. Those goals I had from my junior year are my new goals for this season. Our girls’ team will be very successful, and I can’t wait to leave this program to our new girls, who are going to continue representing Wilsonville with a strong, competitive, and determined mindset,” said Easterly.
Caroline De la Motte won the 5A title in the long jump last May and also took second in the triple jump. “Last season for me went super well. I improved a lot in my triple jump, which was cool to see. I was able to improve a lot and have some cool opportunities to go to big meets,” said De la Motte.
“The boys got 4th, and the girls got 2nd, which is good for a team,” added De la Motte. She looks to PR in her long jump and triple jump, continuing, “These goals are achievable; it will take a lot of work, but it’s doable.” De la Motte looks to repeat history and win state in all of her events, and she also wants to win state as a team.
De la Motte adds, “Our girl’s team has a lot of potential to win state this year. We were super close last year, and I think we have an even better chance this year. Especially as a senior, I want to finish strong and make the most of my fourth year for Wilsonville Track.”
The Wilsonville girls placed 2nd at last year’s state meet, and the boys placed 4th at the esteemed Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, as many of this year’s seniors return, Wilsonville looks to make a similar run, shooting for first place trophy.
