In the summer of 2018, Wilsonville High School invested in two Pixellot cameras that will be used in our gymnasium and main field.

These are high-quality cameras used to film our student athletes right here at WHS. These aren’t your average cameras; they are automatic and programmed to follow the action. This saves a significant amount of time for our broadcasting students who spend hours not only setting up, put manually filming each game.

The cameras take a series of photos and stitch them together to produce the best possible quality. One camera has four different angles, meant to capture each perspective of the game.

These cameras are best for filming team sports, but a device called the joystick will control the individual lenses to capture close up action in sports like wrestling. This camera will focus in on the action instead of moving back and forth for an action packed game. The joystick can also be used for filming assemblies and events held in the gym.  

Another great feature to this system is that you can rewatch game films at any time, and clip out plays for highlight videos or other keepsake purposes. This unit is essentially like a Hudl, in that you can create highlight videos. Hudl is a popular app used by athletes to watch video review and for performance analysis.   

You can view the Pixellot film through the NFHS website. You can easily access this by going to our Wilsonville Broadcast Network website at the top of the page. In order to watch live game films you must pay a monthly, seasonal, or annual fee. But I can promise you this content will be worth every penny.
