Girls soccer looks ahead to a strong season
The girls Wilsonville Wildcats soccer team had their first preseason game on Tuesday, August 28th against the Bend Lava Bears. It was a brutal battle from the star.
Bend scored early on in the game, but that didn’t stop freshman Lindsey Antonson from putting forth a fight. Two goals were scored for Bend within the first seven minutes, but center-forward, Freshman, starter–Lindsey Antonson came back with a clean one-on-two goal to put the Cats on the board.
Shortly after, Lindsey had a beautiful pass to assist Araxi Martinez, her fellow midfielder, to put the goal count for the Cats up to two. Unfortunately, the Wildcats fell 6-2 in their encounter with the Lava Bears.
After the game, I had the chance to ask Lindsey some questions about how she felt her first high school varsity game went, score aside. When asked, Lindsey responded with, “I felt the game went ok. It’s not like we didn’t give it our best effort it just wasn’t our best game. It’s definitely a game to learn from and move on from to make us better in the future of our season.”
Despite the score of the last game, the Wildcats are now looking ahead to their next match away against West Salem, this Friday, August 31st.
