After a tough start to the league season for Wilsonville, the Wildcats have started to heat up down the stretch of the regular season. To begin their league season, Wilsonville took on the best teams in the NWOC, including the likes of Canby (13-1 league) and La Salle (11-3), and struggled, going 2-4 in those series.

Since then, however, Wilsonville has won seven of its last eight league games and has been dominant in those games, with a run differential over that span of +49. The most exciting of those games was Elijah Rasco and Justin Schramm combining for a no-hitter in the most recent contest, a 3-0 victory over Hillsboro.

Schramm spoke about the rare occasion after the game: “It’s a really cool achievement. Obviously, it doesn’t happen often, and to be a part of it with Elijah is really cool. The Defense made all the plays they needed to, and it turned out in our favor.”

Wilsonville will look to win the second and final game of the series against Hillsboro at home on Friday. The Wildcats will wrap up their season next week with a two-game set against Centennial.

As of the time of writing, Wilsonville has a 16-8 overall record, a 9-5 league record, and is ranked #7 in the OSAA rankings. Wilsonville will look to improve its ranking, but with both Hillsboro and Centennial in the bottom half of the rankings, it could be difficult for Wilsonville to rise before the end of the season.

Mark Wiepert talked about the keys for Wilsonville with just a week to go in the regular season: “We just need to play our game, play as hard as we can together, and the ranking will work itself out.”

Wilsonville hopes their hot streak continues with a week left in the regular season and into the playoffs.
