Wilsonville High School hosted a club fair on September 6th, and JSU has gotten a jump on finding a hook to grow their community this year. For their debut at the club fair, they’ve chosen posters and an exciting raffle — featuring Starbucks gift cards. The winner will be announced at their first meeting!
Bringing insight into cultures that students may not be familiar with is an incredibly important job many are unwilling or unable to take on. JSU however refuses to let this be the case for themselves.
One of the JSU presidents, Gabby Maoz, spoke on how excited she is for this coming year, and increasing JSU membership. “Everyone’s welcome to come to JSU — Jewish or not. Especially with the small Jewish population at our school, our goal is to spread our culture and educate other students.”
Leading the group as co-presidents are Ben Memmott and Gabby Maoz. Other positions held among JSU are Jett McCall as member manager, Dena Kaufman as social media manager, and Scout Dennis as club treasurer.
McCall described his plans as the club considers the new year. “Mainly we would like to have more frequent and more scheduled meetings, with the plan being at least once a month. Fundraising and after-school activities will also be incorporated, as we want to raise money for JSU and synagogues.”
Last year, JSU offered a welcoming and fun community, with games such as dreidel and delicious treats for lunch. Joining JSU this year would be a wonderful choice for any student. JSU is willing to help and guide people from all across the school.
