Wilsonville has plenty of clubs around the school, and though we’ve already had a club fair this year, it’s not too late to join one. If you’re just looking for a place to relax and maybe learn a few things, the Fashion Club might be for you.
At Fashion Club, you can make pretty much whatever you want, from making yourself something as simple as a bag to a dress or skirt. “We make jewelry clothing, sew, crochet, knit, really anything that comes to mind creating stuff out of fabric,” said senior Cristina Gonzalez.
If you join now, you won’t have to worry too much, even if you don’t have much experience, in sewing or crocheting. “You don’t have to have any knowledge (before joining), we can teach you how to make things,” explains sophomore co-president Ave Wilson.
Wilson and Michelle Bhilare this year have taken over running the club after last year’s president Sophia Steinkamp graduated. These students are also helped by Ms. O’Neal and Madam Moehling. Wilson began to like fashion after her mom made Halloween costumes. “It made me love art and sewing is like art. Last year I joined and had a lot of fun, and Sophia offered me to be co-president with Michelle so I said yes.”
Fashion club isn’t just a couple of meetings after school, however. Towards the end of the year, the Fashion club works together to make a fashion show, where models wear what members of the club have made and show it off in a photo shoot.
If you’re interested in joining, the Fashion club meets after school every Thursday outside Madam Moehling’s room (room 117). “You should join, it’s really fun and you don’t have to go to every meeting,” Says Wilson.
