Muslim Student Association is a popular student-led club here at Wilsonville High School. Through the association, students are building an inclusive space and uniting with one another.
The club meets once a month, usually Wednesdays and Fridays, in Mr. Ryan’s classroom. The club offers lunch to the students during the meeting and many students enjoy the inclusive environment the meetings bring.
Junior Nafay Faisel mentions, “You are surrounded by a community where you can hang out and learn more about the culture.” Faisel and other students look forward to the community belonging the meetings bring, along with learning the culture’s values.
There are also ways that MSA brings people together, such as meetings and connections outside of school. Junior Coco Saad says,
“The association helps me get to know more people, so it makes me feel more comfortable.” With connections, inclusivity, and a supportive environment, Saad and other students have gained a sense of belonging by being a part of MSA. Faisel says,
“It’s a group of people that can unite about one familiar thing and that bonds us.” MSA brings together people from the same and different cultures to spread unity, which creates connections that will last a lifetime.
The ways that MSA supports each other, they are able to share cultural backgrounds, talk about religious practices, and give communal support to those willing to learn more about the culture. Saad adds,
“It can give you a lot of opportunities that benefit those around you.” MSA provides a support system, and a safe environment, and benefits your knowledge of the culture.
Muslim Student Association is a great way to learn more about the culture, spread inclusivity, and have the opportunity to play a role in a successful student-led association. MSA brings many community involvement opportunities and fosters an environment around the culture.
