As boys soccer is making their way through playoffs there’s been lots of curiosity of the team’s future with the huge portion of the team graduating. The team has a total of 23 players, 15 of wich are seniors not even leaving enough for a line up next year.
A well-experienced team is deadly but scary when next season your existing varsity doesn’t have enough to run a game. We asked opinions from senior Noah Arcas who’s spending his senior year with Wilsonville.
This is Arcas’ first year playing for Wilsonville after playing for Kamehameha Schools Maui back in Hawaii. He has lots of great things to say about Wilsonville’s program and when asked to compare he says the competition is far more fierce here and has made him step up and improve.
Along with the competition he shares about the coaches, a crucial part of the game. The Wildcats are head-coached by Ian Reschke, and assistant coaches are Jeff Phillips and Jimmi Ulloa. A quality he shared about them is how they are “incredibly experienced and genuinely invested in developing each player.”
The aspects of the game coached at Wilsonville on strategy, knowing the game, and working as a team. He loved his time and memories made with his old team but claimed he’s been impressed by the resources and improvement he’s witnessed here on his new team.
When asked about any worries about down the road losing 15 seniors no concern was expressed. He said there may be a large portion of JV players filling roles but by next season they’ll be game-ready.
To help improve the JV players as well the entire team practices together and they have lots of pre-season to figure out roles and prepare new players. It’s essential for everyone to practice together holding everyone to the same standards and level of competition equally improving each player
Boys playoffs are off to a great start; come support these seniors as they work to get a ring for their final year!
