Lady Cats fall in tough battle, 2-1, in too close to call game in LO, 9/11

GM Artman

Co-captain Jillian Greene

The Lady Cats were back in action on Tuesday September, 11th away against tough opponents, the Lake Oswego Lakers. From the start, the cats were not favored to win, however a goal scored by freshman Lindsey Antonson in the first three minutes of the game struck hope in not only the players’ hearts, but the Wilsonville coaches and parents as well.

The game seemed evenly matched, and the score reflected just that when Lake Oswego put in a ranged goal on the Wilsonville half to equalize the playing field, eliminating the Wilsonville lead.

The Cats started the second half off strong, unfortunately a lucky shot for the Lakers found its way to the back of the net, putting the Cats down two-to-one. Defeat clouded Wilsonville’s view of victory, but their battle continued, not backing down from the challenged they were faced with.

Their efforts ended in vain, as the game ended 2-1 in favor of Lake Oswego. Post defeat, I was able to interview senior defenseman, Jillian Greene about how the defense could improve in their next game. She responded with, “We could improve by communicating better to the midfield and each other as well as moving as one whole unit.” Little improvements like this can make a big difference in a close game, building on their already exceptional hustle and coverage. You can catch the Cat’s next game this Thursday, September 13th, at home against Lincoln High, see you there!
