Rolling into the most wonderful time of the year Wilsonville High School just hosted their fifth Holiday Bazaar. The Holiday Bazaar in the words of Amanda Tufts: “A holiday farmers market, with tons of vendors selling things like jewelry, food, and a very nice cribbage board.”
Our local Kids Making Miracles club put on the bazaar. The club’s President Lauren Thomas told us about the inner workings of the event and what was needed for this to happen.
When asked about the process needed to put this on, it takes setting up tables, putting together raffles, cleaning up, and tearing down. This year as a president, Lauren had the responsibilities of reaching vendors to come, finding volunteers, and spreading the word about the event.
While hosted by Kids Making Miracles, many other clubs utilized the event to fundraise and grow their own awareness. Annikah Martin, the vice president of the Interact club, helped her group alongside other volunteers. Interact sold goodie bags with beloved chocolate treats, helping bring smiles to many attendees.
When asked about the qualities and atmosphere of the Bazaar Annikah stated,
“It’s the start of the Christmas season. There are tons of holiday decorations and music, and the entire energy of the place makes you feel like it’s officially holiday season.”
A special treat for the people there, Wilsonville’s acapella group, “Soul’d out” came and sang throughout the day. Not only singing to add to holiday cheer but also to spread their name across the community and build a tighter bond together.
Sydney Cederberg- a Junior singer with the group- was there and spoke of the experience. She said they were there to volunteer and sing Christmas songs to entertain. But doing so they got to gain popularity as a group and have fun together at the Bazaar.
Cederberg notes that her favorite song to perform was Mary Did You Know with it having a beautiful harmonized sound. Despite this, she recounts that her favorite song they sang was Jingle Bells because a young girl attending came and requested to sing that song with them.
Only part of their day was spent singing. Cederberg thanks the Bazaar for allowing her a great day to interact with the community, sing, and enjoy the market with her friends in the group.
The bazaar not only raised money for clubs and vendors, but it helped unite our community and made unforgettable moments to kick off this holiday season.
