The 2024-25 Wilsonville boys’ basketball season has officially begun! As the new season begins there is a sense of anticipation and hope on both sides of the court. During the off-season the Wildcats have worked on new plays, refining their skills, and building chemistry that will help them prepare for what the season brings them. They are looking for the 5A state championship title and to create a team to remember.

The Wilsonville Wildcats bring in new members, including freshman Michael Ratcliffe. He believes that with the start of the season taking off, the Wildcat’s strong suits are, “running the offense.”

So far the Wildcats have played four games and won three of them, fighting hard in their matches against Springfield, Lebanon, and Ashland by showcasing their talent and determination. They hope to keep up their discipline and relentless work ethic throughout the season.

The Wildcats were cut short last year of a 5A state title by 2 points and aim to build and grow from last year’s achievement. They are striving to push past the boundary last year and win a new medal. With a mix of veterans and newcomers, the team is set up for greatness and is poised to bring energy and competitive spirit to every game.

Torrin Brogren, a junior, states,” Right now we are working on being more vocal as a team, keeping our heads up even after a turnover, and being more positive.”

These early season matches they’ve participated in will be particularly telling, and set the tone for the whole year. Keep an eye out for the strategies they start to display in the beginning, so you can notice how the player dynamics will start to take shape. Additionally, Season-opening games are where community is most important so rally behind the Wildcats and cheer in the stands for the start of an amazing season.

Each game will be a testament to the hard work and dedication the players and coaches have invested.
