Every spring, Wilsonville High School shows off its school spirit during Springfest. It’s one of the most exciting and fun weeks of the school year for Wilsonville’s juniors and seniors.
Each day of Springfest has a special theme, and students get to dress up in fun outfits. Some popular themes are “school color day,” “twin day,” and “jersey day.” These dress-up days let students be creative and show their personality in all forms. This brings everyone together and makes for a strong community.
One of the biggest parts of Springfest is the talent show. Students get the chance to perform in front of their classmates and share what they can do. Some sing, dance, and even tell jokes. The talent show is a favorite because it allows students to show off their talent in front of their peers and teachers.
Ben Harris shares, “If I had to participate in the talent show I’d probably try to do a comedy or something funny because if I tried to sing or dance, I would probably break something and become the joke.”
Another fun part of Springfest is the class competitions. Each grade level competes in different games to earn points. The games might be relay races, trivia contests, or team challenges. These competitions help build teamwork and make students feel proud of their class.
At the end of the week, the class with the most points wins and is named the Springfest champion! Reagan Molatore states, “Springfest matters to Wilsonville juniors and seniors because it brings us together. The games are fun and they help us build school spirt and make great memories.”
Springfest also includes the crowning of the Springfest Court. These are students who show school spirit, kindness, and involvement during the week. Being chosen for the Court is a big honor and shows how much they care about the school community.
Springfest is about bringing people together. It gives students a chance to make friends, create memories; this shows school can be more than just a boring place.
Every year, Springfest keeps getting better and more exciting. Students always look forward to what will happen next. It’s one of the many things that makes Wilsonville High School a special place to be.
