She’s competitive. She’s hardworking. She’s talented. She’s driven. She’s the type of person who chooses to go the extra mile and never be satisfied. She’s motivated to be the best version of herself and not give up. She’s Shae Seber.
Seber grew up with two brothers, Tristan Seber, who is three years older, and Cash Seber, who is four years younger. She has felt much support from both of them. Her brothers play a big role in who she is now, and she values her relationships with both of them.
“I watched him play baseball my whole life, and he taught me everything, especially the mental approach stuff, which I get from him,” she says.
Seber shares her relationship with her older brother, Tristan, and how he has influenced her love of the game. Tristan Seber graduated from Lakeridge High School in 2023 and grew up playing baseball. Shae found his love for the game inspiring, and it helped spark her interest in softball.
Seber began playing softball in 6th grade, joining the Wilsonville Wildcat Fastpitch 14u club team, coached by Preston Van Meter. She has continued her time with that team, moving up to 16u with them, and will later move up to 18u.
Van Meter has coached Seber for 4 years, and saw something special in her since the day she stepped on the field.
“She leads by example and does everything asked of her on the field without complaint.” Van Meter adds, “She is always putting in long hours of extra work to improve, and is seeing her efforts pay off.”
With the time Van Meter has coached her, he has begun to know her on and off the field. Seber is hardworking and driven whenever she’s on the field, while being academically motivated, a good friend to all, and putting her faith before her, off the field.
“My biggest supporters are definitely my dad, my brothers, and Preston. My family wants to see me succeed, and Preston took me right in from the start,” said Seber.
Softball has created new connections for Shae, and her family has been her biggest supporter on the sidelines. Her brothers have inspired her, while her parents have been her biggest cheerleaders. She has created amazing friendships with teammates and has gained a connection with her coach as well.
“Shae is an amazing person, and I am a better human being for being allowed to coach her,” says her coach, Preston Van Meter.
With her drive and determination on and off the field, Seber has created a connection with softball and with the people she values most. Her work ethic is inspiring to others with her countless hours of work and dedication. She is talented and capable of anything she sets her mind to. She stays driven. She’s inspiring. She’s dedicated.
She’s Shae Seber.
