Just like that, the bells have rung, the halls are filled, and the 2025-26 school year is under way.
With a mix of excitement, nerves, and new beginnings, students returned to campus on August 26th. From new classes to new faces, the atmosphere has completely shifted from summer to a new school year.
The Class of 2029 has arrived and in a few months we will be saying goodbye to the class of 2026.
Class of 2029 freshman Rory Feary shares her thoughts on the past first week at Wilsonville. “It’s been crazy, coming from middle school into high school has been crazy. It’s still surreal.” Feary adds, “The phone policy obviously kind of brings down the excitement, but so far it’s been good. Different for sure.”
Back in July, Oregon governor Tina Kotek announced that Oregon High School’s would have to implement a NO PHONE policy. Meaning at Wilsonville, from when school starts at 8:30, to when school ends at 3:05, there are no phones allowed.
Class of 2028 Sophomore Cole Burton shares his thoughts regarding the new rule. “It sucks, it really sucks. I thought my freshman year was really fun, and phones were allowed, this year who knows what’s gonna happen.” Burton adds; “It just really sucks.”
Just about two weeks ago, Wilsonville announced their new principal Joclyn Mccintyre. Mccintyre was one of the assistant principals at West Linn the past couple of years. Mccintyre is now serving as the interim principal until the West Linn-Wilsonville board says otherwise.
As the freshmen start their high school journey, we can’t forget that in eight months we will be saying goodbye to the seniors.
Senior Roman Kealoha reflects on his past three years as he goes into the next eight months before he graduates. “It’s been fun man, it blinked. I mean, it feels like just a minute ago I was a freshman walking these halls for the first time.” Kealoha adds “It’s crazy thinking I’m gonna graduate in a few months.”
Feelings aside, the fact is, summer’s over and school is back. And we are looking forward to a great 2025-26 school year at the Ville.
