Wilsonville girls’ soccer faces the opportunity of making history by the possibility of being named as the first public high school to win 5 state championships in a row. The Wildcats have nine varsity returners from last season and an additional nine new players on the roster.
Camryn Schaan, a key component to last year’s success, returns for her senior season. With three consecutive state championships on her back, Schaan looks forward to making an impact on the field one final time.
Schaan, alongside standout player Justine Sheets, welcomes freshman Bella Moultrie, a promising contributor to the Wildcats.
As the team reflects, players alike can agree that last season wasn’t always a smooth journey; the Wildcats lost a few games in the beginning and had to rally when up against 6A schools. But instead of giving up, the Cats came together, improved, and pulled through by winning yet another state title.
This kind of experience has helped the Wildcats stay focused each year, knowing they hold a reputation. Each year, the Wildcats set big goals for themselves and, through hard work and persistence, continue to check them off one by one.
After winning four state championships, every team is out to beat Wilsonville. The pressure is high, especially for the returning champion seniors, but more than ever, the team is motivated to come out on top for the fifth time around.
