Wilsonville girls’ soccer has been one of the top programs in the state, if not the top, over the past decade. This year’s team is stacked, having won four straight state championships, and looking to secure a fifth this year. Last year, they were 6th in the state and 167th in the nation.
Wilsonville’s girls’ soccer team kicked off league play last week, playing Hillsboro and Hood River, and won both games. Wilsonville is 7-2 and 1st in their league, so making state looks to be very promising for this talented team.
Camryn Schaan, one of the team’s top leaders who was named 5A player of the year as a junior, said, “This team has so much young talent that I don’t see our state champion streak dying off anytime soon.” The Wildcats have a total of 9 underclassmen already on varsity.
Idaho Vandals commit Camryn Schaan led the team in goals last year with 21 goals and 14 assists. With only nine games into her senior season, she already has 17 goals, which leads the team this season.
Bella Moultrie, a standout freshman forward from a talented family tree of athletes, is one of Wilsonville’s biggest threats on the field, fighting for that 5th state championship. Wilsonville’s strong attack demonstrates their hustle and work ethic, leaving it all on the pitch.
Moultrie establishes, “This team has a lot to prove because I think everyone wants to beat us, so we can’t take a break. We have the talent to win many more championships in the following years.”
Wilsonville’s program and young talent have everything they need to make more state championship appearances. With a great coach and players all over the field, they are easily a top program in the state. For Wilsonville the focus is to keep paving the path they have been.
