First to sign: McKina Stalheim

Senior McKina Stalheim signs to go to California Baptist University on an athletic scholarship to cheer for the lancers starting in the fall. She has been cheering for Oregon Dream Teams competitively since she was three years old. McKina practices seven days a week for about three hours a night. She shows nothing but passion and love for the sport. Cheering for the lancers has been her dream since she was a little girl. In the eighth grade McKina had some setbacks: she broke her knee cap. Some doctors told her she would never cheer again, but she wouldn’t take that. She came back and worked harder than ever to regain all the muscle and strength she had lost. Last year after Mckina won the All state title, the coach of CBU had expressed interest in her and wanted to bring her down for an official visit. Spring break was when her and her family went to visit. “It was an amazing week spending time with the team and sitting in on all the practices,” said McKina. She continued talking with the coach and was soon asked to come back for her official recruitment visit where she had her own personal tryout with the team. This took place shortly before her singing, September 24. At this visit she was offered a spot on the team and a scholarship to attend the university. Four short days later she was signing her letter of intent at our very own Wilsonville High school.
