How to stay motivated second semester!
How to be motivated 2nd semester!
“I don’t want to be at school right now,” “I’m so tired I could fall asleep in class,” and “I’m so ready for summer” are very typical second semester feelings. All students will understand this feeling of “ugh-ness” that takes over around February or mid-semester. But be not dismayed! There are lots of things you can do and remember that can help you get back to being motivated.
- Rearrange your backpack/some space that is yours
Most feelings of dullness or unmotivation are provoked by other feelings of boredom or routineness and messiness. So, by taking control of a small area in your life and making it different in some way(or just organized), you can gain inspiration. Remember — messy room(or backpack)=messy mind; it is very hard to get anything productive done when your mind is cluttered.
- Apply for scholarships
There isn’t much that is more motivating than earning money, and scholarship and money for college is arguably the easiest money you will ever make. And with the internet, and our friend Ms Tucker, this process is easier than ever!
Ms. Tucker says “Do it because you can! There are many members in our community who want to support you as a student, and using the tools that Wilsonville High provides, hard working teens can earn a lot of money for school. Even though you’re tired of applying and spending time applying for colleges, the benefits far outweigh the costs of applying for scholarships; it’s so worth it to spend a bit of time now to help yourself later. Consider it a 7th period class if you really want the money; make it a habit to apply a little bit every day!”
- Do something new every day
It is scientifically proven that if you do something that you have never done before will cause the brain to build connections between neurons, replacing some of those we lose over time; so doing new things can not only expand your brain, but also can boost your mood and you might even find something new that will improve your life.
- Get active
When you get off of your phone and move around, your body begins to release endorphins which can give you feelings of happiness, excitement for life and new found motivation! So go for a hike or run or a jazzercise class.
