ISEF updates

This year we had some extraordinary ISEF projects enter into the competition.   Jared Weiland’s project stands out in particular  — it is something can make a huge difference if continued int he right direction.

Jared says his project is “a gene therapy for all cancer. In general, carcinogenesis occurs from mutation of two genes, TP53 and MDM2. Analyzing these mutations led me to the implementation of CRISPR-Cas9 and cationic lipid-mediated transfection for the replacement of these genes with there healthy counterparts. This replacement leads to apoptosis in the cancer cell.

ISEF has given all of these talented gifted students a chance to explore their imagination and maybe one day change the planet. We have yet to see how each student places in ISEF, but we will find out who makes it to state on March 5th at Wilsonville high school.
