Canned food for the win

Every year the ASB/Leadership students help coordinate a canned food drive to donate towards the Oregon Food Bank. The Oregon Food Bank is an organization that takes a holistic approach to ending hunger by providing food. They provide emergency food to people who are hungry through a cooperative statewide network of hunger-relief agencies, helping 1 in 5 households fend off hunger.

This year the can food drive ran through 2 weeks through the month of March. Leadership student Sam Prusse explained how this years canned food drive took place. She stated that “this year each English teacher for each period received a huge bin and each class were competing and after the two weeks whichever class had the most cans receive a Krispy Kreme party.”

She said that this years canned food drive went wonderful and they collected so many cans. Junior Sam Prusse said that she was very happy with the turn out and is happy that Wilsonville can be apart of supporting our local food bank and help families and need who don’t have access to those type of items.

This year we congratulate one of Mr. Ryan’s English classes who collected the most cans and will receive the Krispy Kreme party! Thank you to all the students who brought in cans and get ready for next years canned food drive!
