Boys soccer defeats Crescent Valley 3-1

Ryan McCord goes up for a header

Following a commanding 4-1 victory over West Albany on Tuesday, the Wildcats hosted the Crescent Valley Raiders on Thursday. Heading into the game, the ‘Cats thought that the Raiders would give them a challenge, but the Wildcats dominated the game and won 3-1.

When asked about how the game went, senior captain Ryan McCord said that it was nice to get the win, but there are some definite things that they need to improve on. He said that in the second half, they started playing forced and went away from their style.

When asked how the successful non-league will impact league play, McCord said, “It gives us confidence and it is something really good to build on. In the past few years, we have started slow in the preseason, so it is great to see the improvement this year.”

McCord also added that league should be tough this year with Hillsboro and La Salle both being very talented.

Next up for the Wildcats is an away game versus Gresham on Tuesday. Gresham has historically been a good team, so it should pose a challenge to the ‘Cats.
