Boys soccer take on number 1 Reynolds

The Wilsonville Wildcats boys soccer team has maintained a strong showing this preseason. This week the boys went up against 6A powerhouse Reynolds in a marquee matchup. Coming into the game Reynolds was ranked #1 by OSAA and #4 in the coaches poll. The Wildcats came into the game ranked #8 in the coaches poll for 5A. In the past, the Wildcats have tended to thrive in underdog situations. 

The game began with the Wildcats taking an early lead 1-0. The Wildcats made up for an early missed penalty kick. The Wildcats had to adapt to playing on a grass field vs the field at Randall Stadium. The Wildcats had to go away from their usual possession style to a more kick and chase style. Reynolds came out of the half time break very aggressive and pushed the wildcats back. Reynolds got a breakaway down the line and played a 45 ball to a wide-open man who tied the game 1-1. The wildcats pressed Reynolds but were not able to get a goal. The game ended 1-1 however the wildcats exceeded expectations and had a very good showing against the number 1 team in 6A.
