Wilsonville Wildcats top La Salle Falcons 52-47
Cats stage epic comeback in the final minutes of the game
Wilsonville faced rivals, the La Salle Falcons, in their first match-up since falling to them at Gill last season.
It was close throughout, but La Salle had the edge for most of the game. Wildcats had continuously clawed their way back in this fun-fest, but it had been La Salle that had been able to prevail. Just when it looked like the ‘Cats would be handed their first league loss and third loss overall, the ‘Cats came alive when it mattered the most.
It was an epic comeback for the home Wildcats. Down 44-33 with less than four minutes remaining. That’s when the madness began as the Wildcats, led by Sydney Burn’s superb defensive play and the absolute will to win, not only took the lead away from the stunned Falcons, but ran off with it. With a timely three from Renee Lee, who was hitting from beyond the arc all day, the Wildcats were able to secure the two possession win and won by a final score of 52 to 47.
