Wilsonville cruises to a 1-0 victory, stays undefeated
West Linn and Wilsonville squared off on Thursday evening with significant ramifications on the line. A chance to reach a magical milestone. The elusive undefeated season.
The Wildcats, after much deliberation between the two friendly clubs, backed up the conversation around their team with stifling defensive play from Dalton Mermis and Keira McNamee. The Lions, who were looking outclassed the first 30 minutes or so, allowed one blemish.
A Dalton Mermis free-kick with six minutes to go in half one was that blemish. The Lions put pressure on to end the half, but could not find the equalizer.
The second half was more of the same, attrition type action between these crosstown foes. No goals were scored, but there was plenty of action (shots, tackles, and passing) to go around.
A valiant effort down the stretch by the Lions finished at 1-0 Wildcats.
They were able to cap off an undefeated season in a fine fashion.
