Team 1425 “Error Code Xero” is the name of the Robotics team here at Wilsonville. They are organized into seven specialized sub-teams: mechanical, electrical, software, strategy, scouting, business, and design. Each one driven to excel at the challenge of building robots capable of performing a unique and practical robotic challenge. Team members learn a variety of technical, business, and leadership skills as well as how to work as a part of a team. Known as “the varsity sport for the mind,” robotics combines the excitement of a sport with the rigors of science and technology.

Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, the team is challenged to raise funds to design, build, and program robots capable of excelling at challenges against a field of competitors. With the guidance and support of engineering-professionals, members learn and build the skills to design, fabricate, program, and wire a robot as well as market to sponsors and organize outreach events.

“It’s a great opportunity for students to experience what real-world engineering projects are like,” says Katelyn LeBlanc, a sophomore at Wilsonville High School and Lead of the Business Subteam on Error Code Xero.

The team was founded in 2003 and has since been overcoming obstacles and challenges they’ve been faced with. They currently host students from Wilsonville High School, West Linn High School, Canby High School, and Lakeridge High School, as well as charter schools and homeschool students from around the area. Interested students need no prior experience and can be on multiple sub-teams. You can also switch sub-teams throughout the year. Robotics is a super awesome opportunity to sharpen your skills, make new friends, and build up new skills such as team work, problem solving, and public speaking.
