About WBN

Welcome to The Paw Print, the online news site for the Wilsonville Broadcast Network (WBN). WBN is Wilsonville High School’s student-run media program, combining the work of The Paw Print (website and quarterly newspaper), live sports broadcasting, broadcast journalism (The 97070 Show), social media, photojournalism, videojournalism, and podcasting. WBN offers classes for students interested in any type of media or broadcasting:

Journalism I: “Introduction to journalism” class where students learn the basics of journalism.

Journalism and Broadcasting II, III, IV: As the primary WBN class, students publish online stories for the news cycle, write for the quarterly newspaper, and experiment with multimedia through interview, photography, podcast, and video assignments throughout the year.

Sports Broadcasting: Students hone live broadcasting skills by commentating for Wilsonville sports live streams. No prior experience is needed. Reach out to Broadcast Manager Oliver Latta at [email protected] with any questions.

Broadcast Journalism: Students produce the weekly “97070 Show,” aired during Life classes (homeroom). Students learn video and audio editing, video presentation, and use professional-grade camera and audio equipment. Check out the 2024-25 season here.

Mission Statement

The Wilsonville Broadcast Network (WBN) is a student-run journalism program dedicated to telling the stories of Wilsonville High School. Our goal is to produce accurate, interesting, and informative content across a variety of media platforms. We are committed to practicing sound journalism and delivering the opinions and ideas of the students in a free and open environment.

Letters to the editor:

WBN, through its opinions section, provides a space for staff writers, guest writers, and the editorial board to share their opinions.

We strive to make sure we cover events equally, focus on different aspects of student life, and understand the topics we write about to the fullest extent – that doesn’t mean we always hit the mark.

As a news publication, we always encourage healthy and productive discussion. While our opinion pieces convey our take on an issue, we would love to hear yours.

We welcome and encourage letters to the editor.

If you have any response to a piece that you would like to share, any problem with how something is covered, or any input you would like to add, feel free to write us a letter.

When writing a letter, please remember:

  • Limit letters to 400 words
  • Write legibly or type your responses
  • Include your contact information (if you would like to be credited)
  • Though you may disagree, be respectful of differing opinions

We appreciate dialogue with readers.
