Wilsonville Boys Varsity Baseball participated in their first game of the season last Tuesday against the Jesuit Crusaders at home.

A very talented sophomore pitcher for the Crusaders threw close to 90 mph, making it tough for the Wildcats to get on base. In the second inning,  Ben Vavrosky hit one of his teammates home, helping Wilsonville take the lead 1-0. Jesuit went on a run in the 4th inning, tallying up three runs, which left just three more innings for the Wildcats to take the lead. After a hard fought battle, the Crusaders took home the victory with a final score of 4-2.

Cade Edmondson, a junior on the Wilsonville Baseball Team, was interviewed for his thoughts on the game. “Their young pitcher was impressive and we were unable to get the bats going. We are keeping our heads up as it’s just the beginning of the season.”

The Cats will be playing on the road this Friday in a pre-season game against Hood River. Wilsonville will then play two games in Bend on Saturday against two other 5A baseball programs; Summit and Churchill. Be sure to come out and cheer on your Wilsonville High Baseball Team as they will be playing in 1 more non-league and 8 league home games this season.
