Wilsonville softball celebrates their Quarterfinal win v.s Putnam. Wilsonville Softball graduated three seniors in the class of 2023.

As the Seniors leave the school and venture out into adulthood, many leave behind their athletic careers as well.

Kids who started their career at a very young age, will hang up their cleats or equipment for good. While many are continuing their athletic careers in college, so many are putting their high school athletic memories into their back pocket for cherishment. The memories they have will be with them forever as they go into this next step of their life.

Days that were once filled with practices, games, or film study, are now empty where athletes can go straight home and ponder about how to fill their time. These athletes are not only saying goodbye to their school and their senior year, but also their teammates, the people they spent countless hours with, the people who gave their blood sweat and tears, and the people who shared a common goal. Athletes will be saying goodbye to the underclassmen they’ve taken under their wing and juniors who they have spent so much time with and bonded with.

The bruises, bone breaks, fractures, and sore muscles they once complained about will go away. Whether the season ended in a loss or a victory, tears are shed for the seniors who gave the program its all.

Wilsonville creates an amazing environment with its athletes. Wilsonville is a competitive, fun, and supportive environment that encourages kids to play sports. “I made a lot of friends and played sports I loved. I probably wouldn’t have tried volleyball if it wasn’t for Wilsonville. Sports at Wilsonville are a great community to be a part of.” said Anna Jardin who has just graduated Wilsonville High School and will be continuing her academic and athletic career, playing softball at University of Rhode Island. “My experience at Wilsonville has been amazing. I made a lot of new friends and was able to make many memories. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities that sports have given me at Wilsonville.” said Taylor Hadden who will be continuing her education at UC Irvine.

While many doors are closing for these athletes, many are opening as they go into adulthood.
