The sky was grey and dreary as the Wilsonville bus pulled into the parking lot of the Portland Meadows race track. The dirt track had been converted to a racecourse, where runners from over 200 schools competed in several different divisions. The energy in the air was contagious as athletes from Wilsonville looked to race this seemingly fast course.

Although there were several obstacles that needed to be conquered in the race (such as hay bales and small hills), many Wilsonville cross country athletes had standout races. For example, Tristan Cavarno (senior) broke twenty minutes for the very first time with the time of 19:41.1. Caleb Yaso (sophomore) raced an incredible race with the time of 18:30.8, securing a spot on varsity. Sydney Burns (sophomore) ran an amazing race with the time of 20:00.5. Several others on the team received medals for finishing within the top fifty racers in their heats.

Wilsonville cross country will be racing at Molalla River State Park on Wednesday, October 10th. With only two more races until the district meet, we wish them luck as their season comes to a close.
