Baseball vs Crescent Valley

The baseball team kicked off their season with a Jamboree last Monday against the Canby Cougars, McMinnville Grizzlies, and the Liberty Falcons.  With a good opening day, they had their first home game against Marist Catholic High School. Senior pitcher Nolan Thebiay started on the mound for the cats and held Marist to zero runs.  The boys ended up winning 10-0. That Friday they headed down to Corvallis to take on the Crescent Valley Knights. Junior Keegan Shivers was first on the bump against the Knights and held them to three runs.  Senior shortstop Trevor Antonson put up the first points on the board with a solo home run to left field. The cats battled in and out of each inning tied at 1-1. Crescent Valley then hit a two-run home run that put them up 3-2.  Freshman third baseman, Max Bledy, having an amazing varsity debut helps the cats with a few base hits that allowed them to be in scoring position. The boys finally score another run with a past ball by the catcher. They then enter the top of the seventh down 2-3 in desperate need of one more run to tie the game.  The cats were not able to pull away with the win, but it was a good experience playing a top-five team in the state and the boys look forward to another potential meeting in playoffs.
