Wilsonville High School has earned fame for its many wonderful plays.  The next production will be Cinderella – coming soon!

The past week has been  busy for the Drama department; they had casting, practicing, much more than any of us can imagine. It is now time to wait for the magic.

Many people dream of becoming Cinderella, maybe even just be able to continuously watch the movie. A dream of mine is to do both. Sam Katz, who plays Cinderella, gets to have that dream come true.  Katz shares “when I first auditioned, I didn’t really have much of a preference who I wanted to be in the show. However I was excited to get called back because the songs from this show are so fun to sing and it was nice singing with people. When I saw the cast I was happily shocked but excited to get started.”

Not only is she excited to be Cinderella, she also explains “I am excited to see this show as a whole, when we get all the costumes, lights, actors and the next set onstage together in the next two months because it is such a beautiful show. I am also excited to meet new people and bond with the cast.”

“Cinderella is full of magic, laughter and singing,” Katz continues, “So far I’ve had a lot of fun learning the new material. This show has a lot of heart in it and with a fairy tale charm it has modern elements that are very relevant today. I think everyone, no matter what age, will be able to relate to this musical.”

Cinderella isn’t the only play that Katz has been in.   She has been in about ten full-length plays at Wilsonville, as well as competition pieces and programs outside of school.

To be as successful as she can be, she shares how she likes to practice. “Directors always encourage everyone to practice at home as well as in rehearsal, which includes going over your music, choreography, lines, and blocking. Similarly, at home, I go over my lines, music, and write down my blocking in my script.”

Cinderella opens on Thursday November 7, 2019 and runs through Saturday November 16, 2019.  All shows at 7pm.  Tickets are available online – https://www.eticketexpress.com/event/wvhs/5200572143632384 – or at the box office on performance nights
