Avery Lanz was all over the field in the Wildcats opener. WHS lost 14-6 to Lake Oswego. They will play again on Thursday.

On Monday night the Wilsonville girls lacrosse team opened their season at home, taking on a Three Rivers League foe: the Lake Oswego Lakers. Set at the blazing Randall stadium, the Wildcats started off slow.

The Lakers scored early and often through the first half, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in 10 minutes and eventually closing out the half 8-2. The key players for the Lakers were Edie Prager, Courtney Havel, and Olivia Hanson. Each of these three players had multiple goals during the contest.

In the second half, Wilsonville began to cut the deficit. The score was just 8-4 at one point, though the Wildcats lost the momentum and could not gain it back.

For Wilsonville, Maura Schramm, Avery Lanz, and Ellie Grano were essential.

The Wildcats dropped this one 14-6 and will look to regain their footing on Thursday against St. Mary’s.
