Last week in Wilsonville Sports, many teams went at it across different sports. They all played hard and represented Wilsonville well! Here’s this weeks recap:

The boys basketball team is starting to begin the homestretch towards playoffs. They faced two more league opponents last week in St Helens and Hillsboro. Coming off a gritty road win against Scappoose, the Cats had a pretty quick turnaround at St Helens. The Cats came in as heavy favorites and they proved it, taking the game 69-27. They later in the week played host to the Hillsboro Spartans in which they were also heavy favorites. Which showed as well taking the game 73-18.

The girls basketball team is also beginning to work their way closer to the playoff season, which should be very competitive in the 5A bracket. They opened the week with a big challenge: the #2 team in 6A, Jesuit. The Crusaders are favorites in 6A to reach the state championship, so the Cats knew they needed to play a near-perfect game. They fought hard but Jesuit ran away with the game 55-29. Coming off a frustrating loss, the Cats quickly turned around for an away game at Hillsboro. This game was firmly in the hands of the Cats, winning 46-22. It was a defensive clinic.

The Wrestling team had one final tuneup against Milwaukie before the big one on the weekend: the Colton Holly Memorial. They’ve been hampered all year with injuries, COVID, and whatnot but as a squad, they definitely believe they’re on the right track for the near future.
