Coach Thompson talks to his team during a timeout.

The Wilsonville Wildcats faced off against the Hillsboro Spartans this week in their second home game of the year. The Cats won in three straight sets securing the win at home. Wilsonville is now 6-2 (3-1 in league) making them the ninth-best team in the state via OSAA.

The Wildcats won the first set handily in a 25-17 set.

The second set was an even better one for the Cats with a 25-11 win.

Lastly, the third and final set was a closer one with the score being 25-20. The final set was so close because the Cats decided to rest their starters and start some swing players, who played well and closed out the win.

The Spartans looked overpowered by all of Willsonville’s powerful kills. The Cats, however, looked great having tons of kills and perfect serves.

Mckenna Weipert led the charge for the Wildcats with multiple kills in their three set game, leading the Cats to their sixth win of the year.

The Wildcats’ next game is against the Scappoose Indians on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. Scappoose is 2-3 on the year and is ranked 20th via OSAA. Scappoose comes off of a 0-3 loss to La Salle, and they are hoping to bounce back with a win.
