After a discouraging loss to Sherwood just a few days prior Wilsonville cam out the gates roaring against a very good Churchill team. Led by Grace Gatto’s five three pointers and 15 points Wilsonville dropped an impressive 47 points to defeat the Lancers.

Wilsonville’s suffocating defense only allowed 39 points, led by Karina Borgen who has a fantastic nose for the ball not allowing Churchill to have many good shots. Wilsonville also had meaningful minutes from Steller freshman Payton Ratcliffe and Audrey Counts Wilsonville outlasted Churchill.

As the Lancers came into the game ranked number 8 out of 32 5a teams and Wilsonville ranked 29 this was a huge upset in the 5a realm. A big win for Wilsonville especially as a young team who needs people to step up and needs to keep building confidence.

As of 1/13 the Girls travel to Scappoose to play there interconference rivals. Going into the game Wilsonville is ranked 11 and Scappoose comes into tonight’s matchup as 5a’s 20th ranked team.
