Wilsonville baseball wins league looks ahead to playoffs

Wilsonville takes down Scappoose wins NWOC title on the road, look ahead to playoffs.

With a 5-4 extra inning victory over the Scappoose Indians on Tuesday, Wilsonville took home yet another NWOC title for baseball. This was not a surprise for a squad that had high expectations coming into the season. With a 22-3 overall record and 15-2 league record these are just the first steps for a Wilsonville team that is looking forward to the playoffs.

Keenan Sanford said this about bringing home the NWOC title: “It feels really good accomplishing a goal we have had since the beginning of the year, and it’s step one to our bigger goals.” Wilsonville is ranked 2nd in 5A, only behind Lebanon, and with just one game to go in the regular season it’s exciting to see what they will be ranked going into playoffs.

On Wednesday Wilsonville played in there last home regular season game of the year and won with a rousing 3-0 victory. Justin Schramm pitched a masterpiece on senior night at Wilsonville that helped the Wildcats beat the visiting Indians. Wilsonville’s last game of the year is on Friday, also against Scappoose but that one will be at Scappoose for their senior night. After that the first playoff game for Wilsonville will take place on Wednesday the 25th at home.

Keenan Sanford excitedly stated about the playoffs, “We expect to compete no matter what and no matter who we are playing. If we continue to be ourselves we will be alright.” Make sure to stay tuned with Wilsonville baseball to see their journey to the playoffs begin next week.
