The leaves crunch underneath the feet of the runners as they exit the bus. Surveying the beautiful course, they are bathed in the glow of the sun. As they make their way down a small, yet somewhat steep hill, many wonder what kind of race this course would bring. Would it be a fast course? A hard course? These thoughts were racing through the minds of the athletes from Wilsonville High School’s cross country team as they receive their racing bibs and split up into several groups to warm up.

On October 10th, athletes from Wilsonville High School’s cross country team raced at Molalla River State Park in Canby, Oregon. Despite being told wrong directions for the course, the Wildcats recovered from the setback and dominated in every division.

Although the course was a relatively slow course, several athletes on the team reached new personal records. Freshman Peyton Timm raced a new personal record with a time of 23:07.44. Likewise, teammate Esme Kraus reached a personal best of 23:17.66.

As the team prepares for districts, we hope that they continue to do well and qualify for state!
