Sophomore Clarissa Klein stepped up big in the Tualatin tournament this weekend.

Ahead of their first match of Saturday’s volleyball tournament at Tualatin, senior Gracie Thompson had her mind made up. “We want to win; every team here other than Catlin Gabel (3A) is a 6A team, so a win would mean a lot.”

And in their 8:00 AM match against the Newberg Tigers, Wilsonville found the victory they were looking for. They won the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-17, effectively sweeping the opposition. Junior Clarissa Klein stepped up big for Wilsonville, and senior Lindsey Hartford had multiple aces down the stretch in the first set to secure the victory.

The Wildcats continue pool play with an 11:00 AM match against Lake Oswego and a 12:00 match against Catlin Gabel. After pool play, they will advance this afternoon in a bracket depending on their seeding. All matches are at Tualatin High School.
